Successfully delivering the Leyhill WRC AMP8 upgrade with advanced MBBR technology, low-carbon civil solutions, and enhanced infrastructure to achieve outstanding ammonia compliance ahead of the 2026 regulatory deadline.

Overview

Leyhill WRC (Wotton-Under-Edge) was upgraded under AMP8 to meet a new Environment Agency ammonia consent of 3.8 mg/L by the 31st March 2026 regulatory deadline. The scheme was delivered on programme, achieving a significantly improved ammonia result of 0.67 mg/L during commissioning.

Scope of Works

Installation of Siltbuster tertiary MBBR unit
New MBBR feed pumping station
New de-gassing and final effluent sampling chambers
Ammonia/temperature instrumentation
New MCC, upsized transformer, MDP and standby generator
Soil stabilisation using tarmac bases to reduce embodied carbon
